Biography
Mitchell specializes in the fields of privacy and IT law. He has a keen interest in the intersection between technology and law. Mitchell can be described as a pragmatic and proactive professional.
Background
Mitchell obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law at the University of Utrecht. During the bachelor program, he further developed his interest in IT and privacy law, which led himto enroll in and complete the Master’s program Information Law at the University of Amsterdam and – more specifically – the Institute for InformationLaw (IViR). During his master’s, he worked on legal issues in the field of IT,privacy and artificial intelligence, entailed by technological developments. He wrote his master thesis on the legal issues regarding text and data mining. Next to the regular master’s program, he participated in multiple research projects in the field of IP and privacy.
Next to and after his master’s, he gained experience by first working at an educational institution and then at the legal and procurement department of a commercial enterprise. Here, his main focus was on handling all the questions and issues regarding privacy and data protection and creating awareness of privacy within these organizations. This gave him extensive practical experience, which helps him to better understand the needs of clients.
Mitchell joined The Data Lawyers as a Legal Counsel in January 2024.
