Biography
Joep advises a broad range of national and international clients in the field of data and technology, with a particular focus on privacy, IT and advertising. He provides clients with strategic advice and litigates, especially in relation to data subject rights. Joep also assists clients in IT/IP/advertising related contract negotiations and provides(in-house) trainings, including IAPP CIPP/E certification training. He is proactive and practical, which is reflected in his work.
Background
Joep obtained his Master’s degree in Information Lawat the Institute for Information Law (IViR) of the University of Amsterdam. During his master's he developed an interest in privacy and wrote his thesis about the privacy positions of different actors under the GDPR. During his master's, he also spent a semester abroad at Fudan University in Shanghai where he studied international law and Chinese languages.
Joep joined The Data Lawyers as Paralegal in October 2020 and is currently an associate. He was admitted as attorney to the Dutch bar in August 2021.

Joep is a member of the Netherlands Association for Young Privacy Lawyers (Jonge Privacy Advocaten Nederland; JPAN), the Netherlands Association for Information Technology and Law (NVvIR), and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
