Employee monitoring and workplace privacy

Eliëtte Vaal gave a workshop session on workplace privacy and employee monitoring, both at the workplace and remote, during the practical day of the Outvie Data Protection and Privacy Conference on 6 and 7 October in Amsterdam. (Dutch only)

The second day of the annual Outvie Data Protection and Privacy Conference focused on practical issues for privacy professionals. Eliëtte was invited to talk about the developments and legal requirements concerning employee monitoring and workplace privacy. Eliëtte discussed the necessary conditions for monitoring, both at the workplace and remote, following from article 8 ECHR, the GDPR, recent caselaw and guidance from the EDPB and the Dutch DPA.

Furthermore, Eliëtte shed more light on current privacy rules concerning employee sick-leave and also spent time discussing the use of biometric data in the workplace.
