Kim advises companies on information law, including privacy and data protection. She has experience in advising clients on data privacy and regulatory issues in different settings. She advises national and international clients, including scale-up software companies, law enforcement agencies and pharmaceutical companies on compliance issues. She is also experienced in drafting and negotiating international commercial contracts related to cloud computing.
Kim has a curious nature and seeks to comprehend systems and principles for the best tailored assistance. She is energetic and optimistic, confident in her ability to solve difficult problems with creative solutions and enjoys intellectually demanding work.
Kim is captivated by developments concerning the digital economy and its legal challenges for public and private organizations. Kim finished her master’s in European Law at Leiden University in 2019. She specialized in researching complex regulatory frameworks and privacy law. Her thesis (“A data protection response to anti-trustpopulism”) was published on the website for European Law Enforcement, focusing on the mutual enforcement of data protection and competition law.
Before joining The Data Lawyers, Kim worked as a Legal Counsel for an internationally operating SaaS scale-up company, after starting her career as Legal Counsel at a strategic IT consultancy firm. She also was a board member for the Young Alumni Network at Leiden University, and responsible for hosting a series of events for young alumni about networking, personal development, and career. In her free time Kim practices her passion for Power Lifting and CrossFit almost daily.
Kim gives workshops on the Dutch implementation of The Law Enforcement Directive (“Wet Politiegegevens”) and the GDPR. She explains complex legal matters by practical day-to-day examples participants can relate to. She’s an energetic speaker that delivers the message to any kind of public.
